Defending champions Al Gharafa shared a 1-1 draw with Al Arabi at the end of round three of Qatar league.
The result leaves Al Gharafa level on points with rivals Al Sadd, but it is the latter who sit top of the table thanks to a superior goal difference.
Al Arabi are up to fourth place with five points, two fewer than the leading pair.
Al Arabi opened the scoring after only eight minutes when Argentinian striker Leonardo Pisculichi fired home a powerful fre! e kick from 20 yards out.
However, Al Gharafa levelled the scores after 21 minutes when Younis Mahmoud scored his fourth goal of the season to move joint-top of the scoring charts with Al Sadd's Leandro da Silva.
Tonight's other scheduled game between Umm Salal and Al Ahli has been postponed due to Umm Salal's commitments in the AFC Champions League.
